IAR Brasov

The adaptive re-use of the oldest Romanian airplane factory was the scope of this invited competition in Brasov, Romania. Situated in one of the biggest industrial conversion sites in the country, the former machine building factory "Tractorul" it should become the center of a newly developed neighborhood. Our project proposal explores usage scenarios, constructive solutions and architectural interventions that keep the initial might of the hangar alive while offering contemporary amenities and functional as well as technical solutions.
