Rehabilitation of the central area in Biertan

The studied area is located in Biertan, a rural settlement classified as a historical monument of national importance (SB-I-m-A-11940.20), and also classified as part of the UNESCO world heritage "Villages with fortified churches from Transylvania"

The location is in the inner village, with a total intervention area of ​​approximately 28,086 sqm, comprising several implementation areas.

The aim of the project is the regeneration of the public space in these areas, in a modern, sustainable, aesthetic and inclusive way. Thus, the proposals responds to the needs of all categories of users of the space: cars, bicycles, pedestrians (the local community, students, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, etc.).

The main area has the function of a central plaza, therefore the solutions are specific to public spaces of this type (gathering areas, event areas, green spaces, rest areas, bike/car parks, playgrounds, areas for outdoor activities , specific urban furniture) with the primary aim of responding to the needs of the local community.
